Fail! On one hand, people tend to be harsher and more critical of how they appear to themselves, so the mental picture would be worse than the real thing.

I think brian needs to learn to sometimes just keep quiet about that :). He's gotta know that Jules has a worse self-image of herself than in reality. And the fact that he is sticking around I think shows he likes her (I wouldn't be going the lengths brian is if I were him and I (as brian) wasn't interested in Jules).
