Yes, I was laughing to myself while drawing this one, despite the gravity of the situation.

I think this customer needs a few complimentary lattes. lol.

Magravan (Guest), 19 Mar 2010 01:47 am

That's what he gets for admitting that his gun isn't loaded... even if it was in his mind...

DailyB (Guest), 19 Mar 2010 02:35 pm

He should have taken the coffee, methinks.

The_mad_one, 19 Mar 2010 06:24 pm

The "because my gun isn't loaded" is a kinda awkward thing to think... Ahwell. Can't think of a better way to make readers know.

White667 (Guest), 19 Mar 2010 07:46 pm

I dunno, when the gun isn't loaded surely it looks different to otherwise. Like the hammer or what have you, 'eh.

sylviagrace, 19 Mar 2010 10:16 pm

Yeah, it's kind of awkward, I know. People often don't think it words, but I can only translate thoughts into words, and it sounds weird.

I don't know, White667, I don't know anything about guns.

Someone Else (Guest), 20 Mar 2010 02:04 am

There is no physical difference between a loaded and unload semi-automatic pistol. You can still cock the slide, hammer and pull the trigger, even with double action only pistols. A really calm and observant person might noticed that a revolver wasn't loaded, but it would be hard, especially if the gun man kept moving his weapon around.

SirBrass (Guest), 20 Mar 2010 02:39 am

About the gun Unless the gun has a "loaded chamber indicator", then you CANNOT tell if a gun actually has a round loaded or not if the magazine is in the gun. This is why the first rule of gun safety is "treat every firearm as if it was loaded."

Now, when you've shot your last round, the slide will automatically lock to the rear, so that in order to reload you simply eject the empty mag, insert a fresh one and then release the slide. Back in action. But you can just as easily release the slide forward without there being a round in the chamber.

Lesson: unless you're brian and can read a dumb crook's mind (law doesn't care if your gun is loaded or not.... if you even use a mock gun, if the victim has reason to believe it is real, then it's armed robbery), and have a gun pointed in your face, it's loaded. Period. It is. Don't gamble.

Magravan (Guest), 20 Mar 2010 10:08 am

"it's loaded. Period. It is. Don't gamble."

Especially for your minimum wage coffee job. Yessir, here you go, I'll even give you 30 seconds after you leave the store before I think about calling the police. Because more than I care about that person getting caught, I care about not getting myself or other people in the place shot.

SirBrass (Guest), 20 Mar 2010 11:20 am

I have to say that for someone who professes to know nothing about guns, you did a good job of drawing the crook using proper handgun grip. Of course he should have his finger OFF the trigger, but he's a crook and most of them don't follow that simple rule of safety (most get their marksmanship training from movies and rap music videos). Good job there.

Mel (Guest), 20 Mar 2010 10:59 pm

I was laughing to myself the whole time I was reading this. Nice job.

wo_chi_baozi, 21 Mar 2010 11:50 am

Ahahahaha omigosh this was great. Ahahha

sylviagrace, 21 Mar 2010 12:49 pm

Thanks, SirBrass! I really don't know what I'm doing, but it seems to have stirred up some discussion.

Thanks Mel, and Wo chi boazi!

Victorioso, 21 Mar 2010 01:03 pm

I laughed so hard. XD

I think this is my first comment btw. Your comic is great. :D

sylviagrace, 21 Mar 2010 02:59 pm

Thank you, Victorioso!

I just realized something. All my life, theres always at least 2 people in a group of randomly assorted people who knew everything there was to know about guns. Even when I was a kid. This country is crazy/awesome.
Of course, most of them were guys...probably because of paintball/beebee guns actually (or at least began that way).

Annalyn, 23 May 2011 08:47 pm

"I can make you a complimentary latte for your trouble."

I really like this page. :-D
