I'm not sure how he's going to brooch the subject 'don't kill yourself', but often times, but oftentimes all a person needs is to know someone is listening and cares at least a little

the real twist is, I bet, Julia will somehow see Brian comforting her, and assume he's already moved on

well, but then he showed up; i don't think he was specifically avoiding douchery by not stopping her, but rather, too shocked and unready to act; what could he say? "I'm a mind reader and I know you want to kill yourself" "Oh, so i don't even have private thoughts? guess I'll go kill myself to end that too", he's a mind-reader, not omniscient
